Music & Peace: Peace meditation

Peace meditation “My Lord and my God”

The 600th anniversary of the peace seminary Niklaus von Flüe was an occasion for Christoph Schuler and the association Solidarity Lebanon-Switzerland (SLS) in Stans to create a peace meditation. Concept, text and music were created by Christoph Schuler, pictures of meditation by the Nidwald artist Adrian Gander. In a 55-minute performance, a speaker will recite texts on 5 themes: peace, freedom, happiness, light and love. After every piece of text, music is played by a piano quartet.

The Association of Solidarity Lebanon-Switzerland was founded by Nabih Yammine with pupils and teachers almost 30 years ago at the College of St. Fidelis. SLS helped the country that was badly damaged by the civil war, with relief supplies and since then SLS has been supporting especially young people in need of help in schools and universities. All projects of the association are to contribute to the promotion of peace.

The Peace Meditation “My Lord and My God” was premiered on 25 March 2017 in the monastery of Bkerke, the seat of the Maronite Patriarchate of Antioch and the whole Orient, in the presence of the Patriarch and the Swiss Ambassador in Lebanon. After two further performances in Beirut and in Beit Hebbak, 7 performances followed in Switzerland. On October 14, 2017 the eleventh and provisional last presentation of the peace meditation will take place in the Church of the Clarakloster Stans.
