The intensive working week in Lebanon in October 2019 was mainly devoted to our main project “Educational Scholarships”.
Nevertheless, we found enough time on site to meet with those responsible for constructing the CPP on the construction site in Ehmej several times. We were amazed at the great progress and the high quality of the work.
The travelogue reflects the subjective impressions of Matthias Senn.
After weeks of intensive preparations in Switzerland but also with Skype conferences in Lebanon, Nabih Yammine, Tobias and Matthias Senn were in Lebanon for a week at the beginning of October 2019.
Conferences and meetings in Ehmej came off with visits. Seminars and talks, especially in Beit-Hebbak, have taken us a big step forward.
The travel report describes subjectively the experiences of Matthias Senn.
On Saturday, September 28, 2019, the relics of Saint Charbel and Saint Niklaus of Flüe were installed in the church of Chermignon (VS). Afterwards, Nabih Yammine held a conference on the life and work of the saints and was ready to answer questions.
So the two peace patrons moved in together to another church in Switzerland.
Thanks to generous donations, we have received funds for more than 300 Holy Mass readings in Lebanon. The Masses are read above all for peace and reconciliation.
A heartfelt “God bless” to all faithful donors.
SLS has decided that in the future we will focus on our main project, the educational scholarships.
10 new internet pages provide detailed information about this project.
We all invite you to browse and view these pages.
Matthias Senn, Webmaster SLS
After several weeks of intensive preparations, countless phone calls, preliminary discussions and a pre-seminar, the seminal “Educational Scholarships” seminar took place on May 18, 2019 at the KAN in Stans.
We are extremely grateful for our friends who have traveled to Stans and have given us their time, but even more, their valuable advice and contributions.
SLS is happy to be supported by such a loyal circle of friends and experts. We are confident that we will achieve our goals together without losing sight of our values.
Here are some impressions of yesterday’s meeting:
From March 1st to 10th, for the seventh consecutive year, Carole Collaud, Elise Monney, Mélanie El Khoury (for music) and Hélène Godts (for the theater) toured Lebanon for 10 days to perform their art in various concerts, workshops and theaters with children.
On Saturday, March 16th, Carole Collaud, Elise Monney and Melanie El Khoury presented the report of their stay at the Phoenix in Fribourg and delighted the audience with a great concert.
The short video of the melody of Fairouz’s song “Give Me the Flute and Sing” is performed in this line-up: Elise at the piano, Melanie at the clarinet interprets the oriental version and Carole at the flute enchants with the sounds of the famous tango “La Cumparsita” which would be at the origin of the oriental melody.
Thanks to the hard work of Tobias, Deborah and Jonas Senn, the help and good preparation of Nabih Yammine, more than 600 copies of the 2018 Annual Report were packed and shipped on Saturday, February 9, 2019.
SLS thanks the volunteers very much!
The “mirror” is the common thread that runs through this annual report.
We thank all persons who contributed to the success of our annual report as well as to our various publications.
